Arabian Sapphire 18 x 22 - Oil on Canvas

Arabian Legend tells a story of Allah, after his last creation was done, whispering the command "Incarnate!" to the wind. There then stood an Arabian horse. These are the finest, bravest, most beautifully formed of horses and if you have ever see one run, you will understand the story. This painting was the second in what I hope to make a series. It's companion piece “Allah’s Gift” - see below - was purchased by a client at the Royal court in Riyadh.

An Oil Portrait of a beautiful Arabian, based on the Champion Stallion, El Nabila b, who I had the great honor of meeting a few years ago at his then home in California! I have concentrated on the sculptural elegance and strength of form and used a limited and muted palette which complements his power and grace.

This painting was the first in a series in which I wanted to celebrate the mythical beauty and allure of Arabian horses. I named it "Allah's Gift" as according to legend, these horses were created from the wind itself by Allah on the last day of creation. Fittingly this one was purchased by a client from the Royal court in Riyadh.

Curious Companions 20 x 20  Oil on Canvas

While driving with friends in the West of Ireland last year, I spotted these two beauties in a nearby field and shot off to photograph them; deaf to the outraged cries of my companions on whom I apparently unleashed a million midges as I went! These ponies were extremely curious and friendly and I am on a promise to return with carrots, since they posed here for free!!

An Arabian Dream 33” x 23” Oil on Canvas

This was one of my first paintings of Arabian horses. I used a photo reference by the well known equine photographer Bob Langriesh for this one. I paced them in a swirling, mystical background to emphasize the other worldly aspect of this breed.

I was captivated by the dramatic skies here and the cool poise of the lovely white stallion. He seems to be guarding his herd - of ladies I assume!   I would like to credit Alison Hargreaves for the wonderful photograph I based this painting on. It is on quality Artists acid free cotton canvas and is framed in a simple, contemporary white frame as shown above.
